After David Dower Trio’s performance at Dixie Jazz Fest in 2019, the trio returns in Veliko Tarnovo with a concert on July 13, Saturday at the Art Summer stage next to the Asenevtsi Monument.
David Dower Trio blends jazz, rock and Bulgarian musical influences, to create their own original sound: exciting, vibrant, accessible, and fun.
The trio’s musicians have become regular visitors of Bulgaria; 2024 is their 5th tour in our country. They have played at Bansko International Jazz Festival, Jazz in Burgas, and at many venues across the country. They have recorded 3 albums in Bulgaria, including their newest album “Mravka”, which features collaborations from local Bulgarian musicians including a folklore choir and a kaval. David’s love of Bulgaria and Bulgarian music is very clear in his music writing, seamlessly blending Bulgarian influences into his jazz piano stylings.
David is very inventive at the piano, and composes unique music with lots of energy, colours, and always laced with humour and a smile. His band are all world-class performers from Australia and the UK. Their concert in Tarnovo will feature UK-based guitarist Elliot Frost, who himself is a renowned musician on the London scene, and has recently recorded his own album in New York.
David Dower (Piano), Kim May (Bass), Matt Fisher (Drums) and Elliot Frost (Guitar, special guest)
* Admission free thanks to the support of Veliko Tarnovo Municipality. The concert is part of the Cultural Calendar of the city.
